Our Story

Located on Lopez Island in Washington state, Lopez Island Grange #1060 is a 501(c)(8) organization committed to supporting agriculture and community. Built in 1903, the Grange building was originally Center School, one of four schools on the island before the district consolidated in the 1940s. Shortly thereafter, under the auspices of the National Grange and Washington State Grange, the building began its new life as Lopez Island Grange #1060. The volunteer Lopez Island Grange membership and board have stewarded the building ever since. Since its acquisition, the Lopez Grange membership has held monthly Grange meetings, made the building available for community use, and been responsible for its ongoing maintenance. As a cherished island institution, the Grange has been and remains a vital community gathering place.

Our mission: To serve as a welcoming place of fellowship, promoting agriculture, history, the arts, educational, recreational, and cultural activities, and to maintain and preserve our historic hall.

Much of our effort today is focused on restoration projects, large and small, to preserve our building for generations to come. To donate or volunteer, please contact us HERE.
